FAQs

About Billibob Jewellery:

What are your jewellery items made of?

I use recycled 925 sterling silver and a silver clay, which when fired, changes to 999 fine silver. On some pieces there may be elements of gold which will be specified. Some pieces with hair/ashes are set in resin.

Are your pieces hallmarked?

All items are hallmarked in line with UK legislation. For example silver items that weigh more than 7.78g must be hallmarked, therefore smaller items such as earrings may not hallmarked.

Can I have my own design made?

I specialise in commissions.  If you see something you like on the website but you would like to alter, or have your own ideas, just contact me via our contact us form outlining what you are looking for.

Have a look at how it works page which outlines the process in more detail.

Does the silver tarnish?

Over time all silver will tarnish naturally.  In fact, I use a technique to age the silver to give an antique look.  However, I do provide a polishing cloth with every order to keep it sparkling.

Custom Bespoke Jewellery:

How long does custom bespoke jewellery take to arrive?

From the agreement of the design it will take between 7-14 working days subject to the complexity of the piece.  It will then take 24-48 hrs for delivery dependent on option chosen.  I will endeavour to complete a piece quicker for a special occasion.

Horse or Pet Hair Jewellery:

Do you have horse hair in stock?

I do have horse hair in stock but these are generally only for customers of ‘Truemans Heath Riding School’.  I have a variety of horse tails’ past and present that can be used to make your piece so please contact me and I will confirm if it is available.  Please note they are not cut to order and only available when they are due to be trimmed and £5 is donated for every piece using these tails!

Can I have more than one horse’s hair in my piece?

Of course.  There may be a limitation on how many names can be added to the ‘barrel’ of your piece so bear that in mind.  Generally 2-3 names can be fitted onto a barrel.

How do I collect my horse hair?

There are a number of ways you can collect your horse hair.  If your horse is due a tail trim, you can trim the ends off  the tail if it has grown too long. You can also trim pieces from inside the tail.  I do not recommend ‘pulling the tail’ unless your horse is comfortable with the procedure.

Mane hair can also be used but generally coarser manes work better.  Once cut use a plaiting or elastic band to keep it together.  Ideally, please wash using a mane and tail wash or brush any mud and dirt out.  If you are outside the UK it is essential it is washed at least four times.  Once dry, put it in a plastic sealable bag.

You will need at least a pencil width in diameter, and about 3 inches long for a necklace and 5 inches long for a key ring.  Any unused tail will be sent back to you with your order.

How do I send my pet hair, horse's hair or ashes to you?

I will inform you of the address to send it to you once I have received your order.  I would recommend that if a pet or horse has passed away, please do not send all their hair or ashes in case of the rare occasion it gets lost in the post. I would strongly recommend using a tracked or special delivery option as I cannot accept any responsibility for hair or ashes that do not arrive.

I will let you know once your package has arrived safely.    Rest assured I take great care to ensure all your loved horse or pet hair or ashes are kept separately from other customers.

Delivery and Postage:

When will I receive my jewellery?

All ‘one-of-a-kind’ ready made pieces will be despatched within 48hrs of payment. All bespoke pieces will be made and despatched 7-14 working days dependent on the complexity (if it is urgent I will let you know if it is possible to make the piece in a shorter time).  If your item includes hair or ashes, it will be 7-14 days from receipt.  Any future changes to this will be updated on the website.

How will my items arrive?

If they are posted to you they will arrive in a billibob branded box, along with a free polishing cloth.  Let me know if it is a gift and I will also include a bag, recycled tissue paper and a billibob branded notelet for you to write a special message to you recipient (which can be soaked in water and then planted to produce some wild flowers).

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes if you spend more than £100 on one order.

Can I collect my order?

I am based in the West Midlands and am happy for an item to be collected.  If you tick that option, I will contact you will options for collection.

Do you ship world wide?

If you are outside the UK, please contact me and I will confirm postage costs.

Cancellations and Returns:

Can I cancel an order?

Of course, just get in contact as soon as possible before a ‘one-off’ ready made piece is posted or a custom piece is fired.  Ready made pieces are usually posted within 48 hrs of payment received.  I will send you pictures of a custom piece for agreement prior to firing for confirmation that you are happy with it.  Once fired you will appreciate a custom piece of jewellery cannot be returned unless proven they are faulty.  I will do everything to put it right first of course.
